The ONs' Charity Gig 2022 saw four fabulous singer-songwriters at The Old Cold Store on Saturday 10th December. You can watch a recording of the show here.
This year's cause was Hayward House, a unique palliative care centre located in the grounds of Nottingham City Hospital. It provides specialist care for people with a range of life-limiting illnesses, including motor neurone disease, Parkinson’s and cancer.
The Hayward House Appeal will transform areas frequently visited by patients and their families and will enhance the care they receive at the centre.

Cara Flynn was playing her "first proper gig". Starting with a cover of Harry Styles' Grapejuice, she delivered an assured set of the original songs that have attracted the attention of Dean Jackson on BBC Radio. The audience demanded an encore and, without missing a beat, Cara produced the beautiful The Crescent Moon. An outstanding debut.
Compere Iona Bradley introduced Bele as the artist once voted the 'Kindest Person In Nottingham'. She had brought together 38 Nottingham musicians in 2018 to record a single in aid of local homeless charities. Bele revisited the affecting Back on my Feet at The Old Cold Store, singing all the parts herself. She completed a beautiful half-hour of very personal songs by previewing her debut single Goodbye, Farewell Stranger. The single launch is at Rough Trade on 17th January.
It was Matt Humphries' fifth ONs’ gig for a Nottingham Hospitals Charity cause. Since the first show at The Maze in 2016 he has gained a first in Music from Liverpool University and recorded three EPs under The Moss Farm name. He treated the audience to a selection of songs from this brilliant project, as well as Tears for Fears' Everybody Wants To Rule The World and a tender version of Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas.

Chloe Rodgers had played a headline show at Metronome in June and at Broadway Cinema for the Hockley Hustle in October, confirming her status as one of Nottingham's top artists. Her performance of astonishing original compositions at The Old Cold Store was evidence that she may be in the top one. A unique voice, nimble guitar-playing, intelligence, honesty, wit... an all-round winner.
Unfortunately, Mollie Ralph was unable to appear at the show due to illness. The ONs are grateful to Mollie for the time she spent rehearsing and all her support for the event.
Alex Blades kindly took the following photos on the night.
Thank you to the four artists, compere Iona Bradley, sound and vision engineer Marc Reeves, photographer Alex Blades, charity bucket shaker Alison Jones, our hosts at The Old Cold Store and the Vat and Fiddle, Nottingham Hospitals Charity and, most of all, everyone in the audience either at the venue or online.
