Nigel Dunn (1949-60) took the 144th Society Lunch photos when President Dave Nettleton (1974-84) welcomed ONs and guests to Beeston Fields Golf Club on Thursday 22nd May.
Chair of the Governors Steve Banks kindly attended with colleagues Mark Dillon (1970-80), Dr Stephen French, Dr Basheera Hanslo, Dr Sharmini Krishanand and Pooja Tank.
Our guests also included Acting Head Teacher Paul Spedding, School Archivist Yvette Gunther and her colleague from the Development Office Deborah Penney.
Those present stood for a few moments' silence to remember the members of the School family we had lost since we last met. The President paid tribute to our great friend Geri Thomas (Staff 1958-77, 1983-2000). Past President Michael Bolton (1955-66) read the poem Remember Me. Paul Spedding spoke about Geri's kindness throughout his teaching career.
The Acting Head Teacher gave an update on activities at Waverley Mount. He also invited Society Members to School events, including Founder's Day and the Cheese 'n' Ale Ceremony, both at St Mary's Church on Saturday 14th June.
The President thanked the Beeston Fields staff, organiser Nigel Dunn and his helpers Michelle Foster (Staff 2013-17) and Julian Bower (1971-81).
Thursday 18th September is the date for the 145th Lunch. The Society warmly invites all ONs and Honorary Members.
