The 126th Society Lunch at Beeston Fields

The 126th Society Lunch will be held at Beeston Fields Golf Club on Thursday 18th January and the Bar will be open from 12 noon.  The Lunch will be served at 12.45pm and, as usual there will be no speeches, so those who have to get away should be able to leave soon after 2 pm. but there is no need to leave if you wish to stay, the bar will remain open and tea and coffee available.  As always, this is a very informal event and there will be plenty of time to meet up with fellow ONs both young and not so young. There will be the usual Society announcements and an update on the Society events.

After managing to maintain the price for the last few Lunches, I have to advise you that there will be an increase, but this should be the price for, at least, all three Lunches this year.  To cover the cost and include the tip for the superb Beeston Fields GC staff, the cost will have to be £17 - but to save the problem of loose change, I suggest that £20 in the basket on the table will mean that any amount over £17 will be donated to the Society Quincentenary Fund, which is one of the ways our Society carries on supporting the School.  Brief details of this fund will be found in the Menu on the day.  As there is an increase in the price, I have been able to arrange, after serious negotiations involving two e-mails of very few lines, a splendid Winter Menu of Steak and Ale Pie, with garden peas and gravy, followed by Sticky Toffee Pudding with Caramel Sauce and vanilla ice cream.  Coffee and mints will, of course, be served.

I feel confident that there will be a good response so please let me have your bookings as soon as possible.  The closing date will be mid-day on Monday 15th September, although late bookings are usually possible. I have to be responsible for the figure I give to BFGC on the 15th.  As before, payment is on the day by cash or cheque payable to W M Oldham.

Parking is not a problem, although the earlier you arrive the easier the parking. If you have any problems with transport, please let me know and I should be able to arrange for a fellow ON to help.  Also, if you have any problem with the menu, I will arrange for an alternative.  To assist me in drawing up the seating plan, please tell me with whom you wish to be seated - this helps me with what is the hardest job!
