Put Thursday 21st December in your diaries now for the return of the popular Old Nottinghamians Christmas Gig at The Maze on Mansfield Road, Nottingham NG1 3FT (just round the corner from Forest Road, heading into the city).

Featuring ex-NHS & NGHS performers, this should be a great show for all music lovers, but it is also an opportunity for young ONs coming back home from university to meet up again with their friends and enjoy a great night of live music at one of Nottingham's foremost venues.

The Maze is the place where Jake Bugg, London Grammar and Saint Raymond played early shows.  Here is our Christmas Gig line-up of new contenders:

The proceeds from the gig will go to the Renal & Transplant Unit at Nottingham City Hospital.  Nick Lawford of Nottingham University Hospitals Charity writes:

"The Nottingham Renal & Transplant Unit serves a population of approximately one million people, with patients coming from most of Nottinghamshire but also parts of Derbyshire and Lincolnshire.  The unit, based at Nottingham City Hospital, has 40 dialysis stations with patients currently attending three times a week for four hours at a time.  Some patients receiving dialysis treatment will be waiting for a kidney transplant, while for those unable to have a transplant they will require on-going dialysis treatment.

Donations to Nottingham Hospitals Charity help us purchase items that improve the environment on the Renal and Transplant Unit for patients, such as colourful artwork and more comfortable waiting areas, and information packs and DVDs that help explain treatments.  Donations also fund medical equipment such as blood pressure monitoring devices and new dialysis chairs, to help us give the best and most timely care possible.  We have also funded creative activities for patients, to help transform dialysis from a potentially challenging experience to a positive and productive one.

Currently we are raising money to fund more televisions for the Renal & Transplant Unit, to help pass the time and distract patients from treatment.  At the moment we have only 10 televisions between 40 patients. We would love to have more, as well as interactive activities like iPads, which will have such a positive impact on patients.  These important enhancements to the service go over and above the NHS provision, and have such a positive impact on patients."
